The Predatory Publishing Paradox by Prof. Dr. Amy Koerber

In “publish or perish” academic settings, institutional prizing of quantity over quality has given rise to and perpetuated the dilemma of predatory publishing. Upon close examination, however, the definition of “predatory” itself becomes slippery, evading neat boxes or lists which might seek to easily define and guard against it.

Better with Bubbles: New Horizons for Clinical Ultrasound

Peter N Burns from Toronto, Canada is visiting the Inselspital, at the invitation of Prof Annalisa Berzigotti and the Department of Visceral Surgery and Medicine. He has been instrumental in pioneering the application of microbubbles for enhanced ultrasound imaging, a technology that has new and broad applications.
Prof Eva Segelov, Director of the Department of Clinical Research (DCR) will introduce Prof Burns and moderate questions after his presentation.

Explore the revolutionary potential of gas-filled microbubbles in clinical ultrasound imaging. From being a mere physics curiosity, these bubbles are now the backbone of groundbreaking biomedical strategies.

Join us for this insightful lecture and dive deep into the world of bubbles and the wonders they promise in the realm of clinical ultrasound.

Seminar By Prof David Raubenheimer

Bestseller author Prof David Raubenheimer from Sydney Australia will visit the Inselspital on June 19th, 2023 to hold a seminar about his and Prof Stephen Simpson's discovery of nutritional geometry and the subsequent detection of protein leverage.

This discovery shows that the strong regulation of protein intake by humans has a major impact on energy overconsumption and the development of non-communicable diseases such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease. First results showing protein leverage in children will be presented by Dr. med. Christoph Saner, PhD**.

* Leonard P. Ullman Professor of Nutritional Ecology in the School of Life and Environmental Sciences, and Nutrition Theme Leader in the Charles Perkins Centre at the University of Sydney. **Consultant paediatric endocrinologist, Division of Paediatric Endocrinology, Diabetology and Metabolism, Department of Paediatrics, Inselspital

Date & Time: Monday, June 19th 2023, 12:00-13:30 (no registration required, no fees)
