DCR Medical Grant Writing Program for Clinicians

Designed for clinicians who would like to enhance their skills regarding applications for grant funding for clinical research projects, the DCR Medical Grant Writing Program offers an intensive program focused on planning, writing, developing, and revising scientific grant application materials written in English.

Through a blend of virtual and in-person consultations and workshops [and optional virtual schreibstunde or a weekly writing hour on (most) Thursdays], the DCR Medical Grant Writing Program requires a total time investment for consultations and workshops of around 10 hours over 6 months.

The Program kicks off with the 45-minute Consultation 1 on either Thursday, June 15 2023 or Friday, June 16 and concludes on Thursday, December 14 at sitem-insel. Program organizers expect full commitment from participants, including attendance at scheduled events for the DCR Medical Grant Writing Program.

DCR is delighted to announce application decisions for the inaugural DCR Medical Grant Writing Program for Clinicians were sent out on May 23, 2023. The applications demonstrated eagerness to start the 6-month Program, which is slated to begin with consultation 1 in a few weeks and end in mid-December.

The Program blends individualized medical grant writing guidance through consultations and group workshops with a (optional) weekly writing hour on Thursdays during the Program. All individual consultations occur on either Thursdays or Fridays and all workshops on Fridays for the inaugural Program.

Although the Program was unable to accept all applicants for the Program right now, DCR Director Prof. Dr. med Eva Segelov and DCR Education Officer and Lecturer Dr. phil Kristin Marie Bivens are working on dates for the second iteration of the medical grant writing Program, which will also offer consistent days of the week for workshops and consultations.

Congratulations to all 10 participants who join the Program from a range of departments, including orthopedic surgery and traumatology; hepatology; nuclear medicine; medical oncology; gynecology; and anesthesia among others. Please join DCR offering our congratulations for the first set of participants in the DCR Medical Grant Writing Program for Clinicians!
