Call for proposals for edited volume: Implementing Patient and Public Involvement: Engaging Patients and the Public in Clinical Research

Involving patients and the public in health care—although not a new phenomenon—is an area of increasing importance in the field of clinical, patient-centered research. Although patient and public involvement (PPI) clearly acknowledges the important roles patients and the public play in clinical research, the edited volume explores questions related to implementing PPI.

In Implementing Patient and Public Involvement: Engaging Patients and the Public in Clinical Research, we aim to provide meaningful definitions and overviews of the current state of PPI across the world, including disentangling and defining aspects of PPI occurring before, during, and after PPI activities commence and how they influence clinical research.

A major UK-based academic publisher requested a full proposal for the entire volume. We plan to pursue publishing the edited collection as gold open access, making the edited volume immediately available online.

Chapter proposals due by March 19, 2024. The full call for proposals includes a timeline and proposal requirements.
